Can you for a moment dream of a day when Las Vegas would be known as a city with the least amount of homeless, all because of people like you and me who decided to join in the cause and become ‘Champions for social Change’. I do believe that poverty can be defeated, not with weapons of mass destruction but with something greater than weapons; It’s simply called ‘Unconditional Love’.
Operation H.O.P.E., Inc. is making a difference within the homeless population of our community. Our Hope medical & Dental clinic is now a key partner with the Southern Nevada Regional Planning Coalition committee on homelessness. For those in the medical field who would like to be apart of Hope medical & Dental clinic please contact Dr. Elliot Shin at 702-952-9564.
The President and founder of Operation H.O.P.E., Inc. Dr. Elliot Shin MD was recently attending a coalition gathering of over 20 local organizations who are planning for the 2011 Southern Nevada Project Homeless Connect. This is a major citywide event at Cashman Field on November 9th 2011, 9am-4pm. Rick O’Brien a local PA and myself were also apart of this planning committee and it was great to see first hand, many of the major team players who are on the front lines of helping the homeless. It’s very easy for whatever reason to just go on walking by the homeless within our city and pretend or even block out of our minds those who are living on the streets, under bridges, in shelters, in tents, in the desert, behind a wall or in cars. Whatever the reason for individuals and families being homeless, I’m reminded of what the most influential person on earth once said a little over 2,000 years ago. ‘I was hungry and you gave Me food; I was thirsty and you gave Me drink; I was naked and you clothed Me’….Jesus Christ
What’s your thought about homelessness in our city?
